When she graduated in 1992 Amanda Bossard began her studies in marine biology in Anchorage in Alaska at the University of Alaska Pacific. Bossard launched her career as a commercial fish worker in the year 1999. She started working at the vessel F/V Sunset a 65' halibut-schooner that was turned into a Salmon tender, in the name of Murat Aritan. She had been working in commercial fishing since. Bossard has been engaged to Aritan and they have come together to prove their rights to the industry. Both of them are in favour of conserving resources as well as maximising profits. In 2007, the mother of two children Bella age 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard and then relocating back to live in Philadelphia, opened a direct market wholesale distributor of seafood called Otolith. The couple is separated by 5 months and she is able to concentrate on her financial goals and her environmental goals. Bossard and her children Andre 10, and Isabella 12 return every year for a visit to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to harvest wild salmon during summer.
